with Meridith Towne, author of Making Late Medieval Menswear

Having worked for over a decade making costumes from all periods, Meridith found that colleagues working in film and theatre constantly referred to the medieval period as being the most confusing to navigate. So it was a delight when she was approached by a publisher to create a ‘How To’ book on medieval menswear to continue their series of costume construction manuals. Taking apart the male wardrobe of the 14th and 15th centuries and building them up piece by piece, she worked to create a book which professionals and amateurs alike would use to understand and construct male clothing of the period. This talk will give you an insight into how she went about researching, creating and making the clothes and which was the trickiest to navigate, alongside some top sewing tips.

This presentation will be recorded and made available afterwards to MEDATS members.
